About eKodoKi

eKodoKi is a brand of environment-friendly bags and lifestyle accessories (lunch boxes, bottles, cutlery, sunglasses, pouches, etc.) for commuters and travellers to express their eco-consciousness in style.

Our mission is to deliver long-lasting alternatives to fast-fashion and throw-away culture, as an answer to the growing awareness of climate change and resource scarcity. Our customers are conscious about the use of resources but don’t want to compromise on style, practicality, nor quality.

Our products are made of renewable natural materials, up-cycled products, recycled materials, and easily recyclable materials – in manufacturing processes not harming people, nature, nor animal life. We continually investigate new routes.

We select our manufacturing partners on their pride in the provenance and quality of their materials; their manufacturing processes and work conditions; their team members and their craft; their ability to take on-board custom requests; and last but not least the products they make.

We curate collections of bags and accessories. Our aim is to provide the right balance between too less and too much choice in a portfolio of both stylistically and functionally complementary products.

We believe in slow fashion as a responsible alternative to fast fashion. Designers are often guilty of contributing to the quick refreshment of product ranges. eKodoKi on the contrary believes in long lasting designs. Similarly, we value reusable products over single use products.

We sell directly to consumers through our own web shop, and soon through other digital channels.

We strive to operate as sustainably as possible in everything we do. To fight climate change and the depletion of resources, using environment-friendly materials in our products alone isn’t enough for us. We do our best to provide responsible packing solutions – reused, recycled, reusable, and at least recyclable.
 

About the Founders

eKodoKi is co-founded and co-owned by Dutch designer Marion Verbücken and French designer Bertrand Rigot. Prior to running eKodoKi, they accumulated together nearly 60 years of experience in creative direction, content curation, experience design, and communication design, within a multinational technology company.

At the same moment in their career, they have had the chance to re-invent themselves, and to build up together a new professional life – a motivating activity, which would keep them alive and kicking for years to come. Combining their expertise with their strive in life-long learning, they felt liberated by starting an entrepreneurial journey, and taking responsibilities in their own hands.

At eKodoKi, their shared activities comprise bag design, accessories customization, graphic design, packing and storing goods, lifestyle and studio photography, image retouching, writing copy, managing the web shop, posting on social media, and picking & packing orders. Individually, Marion investigates trends, sources the manufacturing partners and curates the product portfolio. Whereas Bertrand takes care of the communication with suppliers, the finances, and the search engine optimization (SEO).

Marion and Bertrand do now more with less, working on a remote farm that accommodates both established and start-up small businesses.
