About our Bag Manufacturing Partners
eKodoki works with rigorously selected manufacturers, based on criteria related to respect for the environment, animal welfare and working conditions – in other words, companies that do not use heavy chemicals, guarantee good working conditions with fair wages, do not harm animals and work according to reliable certifications. While we can't tick all the boxes with every manufacturer, we strive for continuous improvement.

Our seatbelt webbing is sourced from a local Malaysian seat belt manufacturer. All purchased seatbelt webbing is defective, due to various factors such as safety and color defects, as well as factory drops. Although considered unusable in the automotive industry, they are completely new, and perfectly suited for making bags and saved from the landfill.
Made in Green by Oeko-Tex | Produced close to our RE-BELT collection bag manufacturer, its lining is made of fabric certified ‘Made in Green by Oeko-Tex®’. Made in Green by Oeko-Tex® is a traceable product label for all types of textiles that have been produced in environmentally friendly facilities under safe and socially responsible working conditions. The label also reassures consumers that the textile product is made of materials tested for harmful substances.
KWORK Cork & Hanji Collection | Manufacturers’ certificates
PeTA Approved Vegan | Our cork fabric, produced in South Korea, is certified PeTA Approved Vegan. This cruelty-free certification is designated for companies that have signed a statement of assurance verifying that they and their suppliers do not conduct, commission, or pay for any tests on animals for their ingredients, formulations, or finished products anywhere in the world and that they pledge not do so in the future.
KCL Certified | Our cork fabric products have objective data certifications by KCL (Korea Conformity Laboratories), that upholds the highest standards in testing in Korea.
KARA | Regarding animal welfare, our cork fabric manufacturing partner is working with animal rights advocates Kara.
FSC certified cork | Cork is a renewable natural material harvested from Portugal's oak forests, called Montado's, which are all FSC certified. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification allows businesses and consumers to choose wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources.
The cork sheets are pressure bonded with a TPU film. TPU is a non-toxic material, it is a completely inert material and does not release VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), nor does it contribute to PH change in soil or water.
Intertek certified “Haunji” | The other main material of our KWORK bags is “Haunji” (a brand from Hanwon Moolsan Corp), a Korean eco-friendly material that consists of a leather-like durable surface based on traditional Korean craft paper called ‘hanji’ – a sustainable renewable material made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. “Haunji” = ‘hanji’ paper pulp (50%) + cotton fabric pulp (50%) + silicone-based coating material (Aqua Urethane based; nontoxic volatile adhesive). Haunji is Intertek test certified – no toxic chemicals are found.
With the decision of the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) association to prohibit the toxic production of plastic-coated synthetic leather, “Haunji” meets the environmental needs of the synthetic leather market.
Global Recycled Standard | The material used for the lining of the KWORK collection is “MIPAN© regen™” recycled Nylon, made from pre-consumer waste, and aimed at reducing waste to landfills and preserving petroleum resources. This material has achieved Control Union's Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certification.
WOOLI Wool Felt Collection | Manufacturer’s certificates
Mulesing free wool | Our wool comes from New Zealand, where cutting, or clipping, of skin around a lamb's rear and part of the tail is prohibited by the government. Mulesing is originally done to attract flies less quickly because no urine and faeces stick then to the wool.
Azo-free Certified / RoHS-EU | Our wool felt is Azo-free certified, according to the “Restriction of Hazardous Substances” European guideline (RoHS-EU). This means that the factory does not use heavy metals in its dyes; the factory filters and recycles the water of the dye cycles.
CE certified | The CE mark indicates that a product has been assessed by the manufacturer and found to comply with EU requirements for safety, health and environmental protection. It is required for products manufactured anywhere in the world which are then marketed in the EU.
BV Testing certified | Bureau Veritas (BV) is a global leader in “Testing, Inspection and Certification” (TIC), providing high quality services to help customers meet the growing challenges of quality, safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.
SGS Certified | SGS is a certificate or report for compliance or testing services performed by SGS. Our felt factory partner has passed ISO9001 quality management system certification.
