About Wool Felt
Why are Wool Felt Bags Eco-friendly?
Nowadays a premium material for professional apparel and designer home décor, real wool felt is also eKodoKi’s favourite material for its WOOLI collection of soft containers, pouches, and bags – soft and thick, our products will protect your electronics hardware, such as laptops and tablets, and other belongings.
Luxurious, soft to the touch, and water & dirt repellent, wool felt is a surprisingly dense and padded material. Beware of counterfeit polyester felt and acrylic felt flooding the market; these petroleum-based plastic alternatives are not only harmful to the environment, but they are also unpleasant to the touch, and they wrinkle when bent.
Typically sheared once a year, sheep naturally provide us with a qualitative renewable material: wool. Durable, renewable, biodegradable, 100% natural wool felt is the most environmental-friendly felt of them all.
Sheep are not harmed when their fleece is sheared; on the contrary, it is absolutely necessary! Mankind’s oldest known textile is not woven, nor knitted; it is obtained by matting, condensing, and pressing fibres together.
The beauty of our WOOLI bags lies in the irregularities of both the handmade assembly and the wool felt material itself – slight colour and thickness variations, as well as the presence of small natural fibres on the surface, all demonstrating its 100% natural origin.
eKodoKi’s WOOLI products use 3mm thick wool felt. The bags and sleeves in the collection feature an additional 1-2mm thick wool craft felt, bringing the overall thickness of these products to 4-5mm.
